HOW TO REACH OOTY:
By Air: Coimbatore, 105 km from Ooty, is the nearest airport.
By Rail: Nearest railway station to Ooty is Mettupalayam, only 47 Km away served routinely by Coimbatore and Chennai. Other stations are Kozhikode, Coonoor and Mysore.
By Road: A good network of roads and national highways connect Ooty with all major towns and cities.

Travellers needed to ride on a horse back or carried on ‘dollies’ through a forested path to reach Ooty. It was due to this difficulty that gave birth to an idea of constructing a rail line to connect the hilly areas of Coonoor and Ooty from plains.
Paddle boating is one more activity that can pamper you at the Ooty Lake. And while you were enjoying your boating ride you can come across the stunning views of the hill station.

Tea and Tourism Festival has been giving appreciation to the beautiful city. The tea gardens are festooned in flourishing beauty. To have fun and to get to know the knowledge of Tea and its tastes, the Department of Tourism, Government of Tamil Nadu and Ministry of Tourism, Government of India came up with the idea of a tea festival. During a festival, varieties of tea are on display. Visitors can taste and select and buy from the wide varieties of tea available and bring the taste to their own country.
A very big extraordinary event in Ooty held every year in May, the very own affair of Ooty locals and i.e. Annual Flower Show which displays different varieties of roses, carnation, gerbera, dahlia, floribundas, lily and much more. The gardens are officially laid out with lily ponds, and there are clipped shrubberies in the form of elephants, with the trunks lifted up. The stunning Ooty Lake is a much-loved place by tourists. The lake was artificially constructed in the year 1825, by Mr John Sullivan, the then Collector of Coimbatore.
